Glass panes detaching in upper corner

It's definitely recent. I first noticed it about two weeks ago and marked it up with a piece of tape. Just to be able to measure if it would get worse.

If it started recently it heading for a fail, once it gets to a certain point where the water pressure overpowers the silicone bond that is it. Have any brute cans or buckets. I would use them to get water level down alot

Get the water down ASAP. You can also take a light duty ratchet strap to put around the tank to give it some extra support while you gather your materials. Just protect the glass from the metal hooks and ratchet.

Don't crank down hard on the strap, just apply a medium pressure to reduce stress while you run to the store or whatever you need to do.

By the way, it is actually possible to get an extremely rigid stand that, within reason, will be immune to an insubstantial wooden floor. In the 'states, a popular company for this is 80/20, but t-slot aluminum construction is very common, and I'm sure there's companies in Europe that supply this sort of thing. While not exactly free, getting the parts and constructing your own is typically far cheaper than a custom wooden stand, and they're incredibly strong - you could park a car on one made from the 4" cross sections.

Maybe use one of these. I had to when my son’s 72 bow plastic brace broke and the front of the tank started to push out. It’s will hold until you decide your next plan of action.

I would cut 2 2x4s to put on the front and back of the tank and use at least 3 pipe clamps to reinforce that before I even touched anything else. It looks like it could go at any minute and may even fail when you start to drain and remove things

Yea that needs to be removed ASAP. Is the tank new, hopefully there’s a warranty. As for the wood floor, shouldn’t be a problem. My house was built in the late 1700’s and the floor is holding my tank just fine

I would drain that tank ASAP matter of fact I would get a small ratchet strap around the upper part of the tankuntil you can get a few brute cans to empty it. it’s just a matter of time before that seam goes and when it does it’s going to go fast. Sucks but better to deal with it now then with a mop and bucket.

Oh and it you use a strap don’t tighten it crazy that could be bad just snug.
Ratchet strap like he mentioned, that will atleast buy you sometime for sure. The wobbly stand probably had something to do with it.

@tiomm any updates? How did everything work out, I have been worried lol.

Yes, sorry.

The tank is still running [emoji16]

I did take out a few extra gallons to lower the waterline somewhat and sold off all of the coral.

New tank will be here next week. It will stay in the same spot, but the stand is a used Red Sea cabinet and very sturdy.

Too bad I have to throw the old one out [emoji849] It's starphire glass and scratch-free.

I don’t exactly know how I this works, but since the glass is good I think it can be taken apart and resealed?

I’m not sure but I think @4FordFamily or @HotRocks . may know

It should be able to be repaired. I would have it done professionally though if it were me.

I also wouldn't take any chances and continue to run the tank in that condition. Just my .02

My LFS told me to just throw it away. It will be cheaper to pay for new glass and construction, rather than pay for time it will take to take it apart, clean it, and re-seal.
