Glass shield

I managed to break the uv shield on my mh retro fit kit. Does anyone know if I can replace it with glass from hd or lowes? YAY for picking glass out of my tank with forceps.

If it is UV glass, there shouldn't be a problem. If not UV, you are setting yourself up for potential problems. Guess I should start with what kind of MH? DE or SE? I run my SE bulbs without glass, but not my DE's. If DE's, make sure the glass is a UV shield.

From my understanding UV glass is tempered glass. The "tempered" is what blocks the UV.
