Hey Folks,
I am searching for a 280 Gallon (8ft x 30" x 22") tank - one of the option that is tempting has 1/2" glass thickness.

This is not my living room build but more of a garage build. Wondering if any one has long term success with this size and thickness ?

I'm assuming 30" wide and 22" high.

If it's rimmed with 4 braces like a standard 8x2 240 gallon, 1/2" is probably reasonably safe. If rimless, no way.

Not glass but I'm looking into a 108 x 30 x 30 and using 1" acrylic. My 210 which is glass is using 3/4. Height and length are probably the key factors along with bracing. I always use euro style bracing.

Hey Guys, thanks yes it has 4 braces along the width (30") and water height should reach to 20 inches almost. Looks like a safe choice.

Tank stand is coming along well. Also an attempt to shadow box for this tank but let’s see how it goes - got painted 1/4 inch sheet ready if things go south.

Also mounts for light are installed and both fixtures are ready - tank arrives this Saturday the 26th
