Glass thickness for 5’ rimless

Debating on 5’ x 2’ x 22” Tall rimless 3/4” or Eurobraced 1/2”. Whats your experience and opinion?

I would do the eurobrace, mostly for the peace of mind and because I like to be able to rest stuff on top when I’m working on stuff like gluing frags, etc.

I like eurobraced myself. I've had rimless tanks and they splash more and are harder to clean. A small 3" eurobrace around the top won't cause any issues with accessibility, but makes the glass much easier to clean and also keeps nerite snails in the tank!

Your point is good as well. I forgot about the splashing from powerheads and cleaning the glass as well as holding the snails in.

Definitely Eurobrace as any tank should really have a cover anyway.

It is not filled, yet....tank just arrived to my house yesterday. it is the same glass that is used on my 48x24x21 rimless that has no issues with bowing, so a eurobrace that is only a few inches longer should have no trouble.

Few inches shouldnt matter. Wondering what 60” will do

It's not so much the length or width (within reason), height is generally the determining factor on glass thickness.

Rimless all the way. My 6' custom rimless by AGE is 3/4" . Love the look.

My 60x24x24 eurobraced is 12 mm, my understanding is the same dimensions in rimless needs 3/4". Makes a big price difference.

I have a 60 x 30 x 24 rimless. It has 5/8" thick glass. I wish I had eurobracing though. It is a pain to clean with a magnet because water splashes over the top and makes a huge mess every time. I will never again buy a rimless tank.

Rimless will need to 3/4" for that size aquarium. I wouldn't do anything thinner for that size. Yes the 3/4" glass does cost more.

Just curious. I don't clean my aquarium with magnet, but I can put my arms in the aquarium without water splashing over the top. When you tank is running, how far down from top edge is the water?

Probably about an inch
