Glass thickness for MP10

The manufacturer recommends 3/8" maximum for the Vortech MP10wes. I have 1/2" glass and already use two MP40wes and would like a back wall supplement to replace a Tunze 6105 that is just too big and too much for where I'm using it.

Has anyone successfully used and MP10 on 1/2" glass?

i just put my mp 10 on 3/8 inch glass it seems to work just as well as always. im kinda wondering this also does that 1/8 inch really matter ?

I've got one on 1/2" glass and it's fine. I've read that some others have had problems, so it may depend on your individual mp10 or the glass, but mine is fine for what it's worth.

Starhphire glass is harder for it to run on if its thick because its low iron glass. That's probably why it won't stick well to others tanks.

I have 2 on 1/2" acrylic. Sometimes its a pain to get them running again after cleaning them, you really have to align them perfectly. But once they are going they do just fine.

I have multiple MP10s on 1/2" Starphire glass and they are holding on. EcoTech Marine says 1/2" is a grey area so use with caution. It is best to use the adhesive mounts that are included with the pumps to make sure that they don't fall because I have had that happen to me before. Damage from the unit dropping to the floor is not covered under manufacturer's warranty.

My MP10 worked fine on 12mm glass (.47 inches) low iron. But the slightest nudge could knock it off the glass. Just mask sure you nobody touches it. As you know an MP40 on the same glass can take a hit without falling.

my mp10 used to work on the 3/8" glass thickness (tank made by Deep Blue), this same mp10 no long work on the 1/2" glass thickness.
it sticks to the glass fine but the momen I power it on, the dry and the wet side fall apart.

Not sure why but looks like it work for some people
