I have a glass top on my tank and it gets dirty sooo fast it blocks the lights. Can I just take it off and set my lights across it? I have a LED bar that rests on edges of tank. it would help the lights shine better and brighter. But I worry about fish jumping out. Oh and also I have algae growing spotty all over brown and dark brown. what can i add to help out fish wise? ive been using vibrant to help. 50 gal. Can i get a small tang? and then swap it out when he gets bigger? I was thinking of getting a small squaretail brissletooth.

Look into buying or making a screen top, that's what most people use. Can be pretty cheap to make

For the lights I would be hesitant to place them on an open top tank. The risk of them falling in is to high. There are so many options for mounting or hanging that is my recommendation. As to the algae, understanding your lighting type, schedule, and nutrient parameters will help us give better advice. It could be something as simple as replacing old bulbs...
