Glass top vs Mesh any concerns?

Hi Everyone,

My IM Nuvo 10g has a mesh top but I had a 10mm glass made as I live in the great white north and have a huge amount of evaporation. In the end not a huge deal as I have an ATO but wondering what are the pro's and con's of open (Mesh) vs closed (Glass)?

I would think that with glass, there could be less oxygen/air exchange with the water surface. Is there a skimmer in your system? You could also run an air line into the filer chamber if desired.

No skimmer

The two biggest drawbacks with glass tops are gas exchange and having to constantly clean them of dried salt residue otherwise it will quickly start to block light. There are no drawbacks to a mesh top designed correctly (as long as you have an ATO, which you do).
