Glassy Sweeper Fish Keeping?

Hi,

I’ve only been fish keeping for around 8 months now,

I’ve just gone to a local marine shop, and saw a schooling fish I’ve never seen before, they are called “Glassy Sweeper Fish” they really caught my eye when looking around and took them home!

Has anyone experienced keeping these fish in there reef aquarium? there really isn’t much information out there about them.

I personally don't think I've even heard of a Glassy Sweeper Fish, but I'm sure some of the R2R resident fish experts will be along shortly to advise you.

I believe a Buenos Aires specimen are rarely seen in LFS

They kinda look like a baby “Vampire Fish”, they caught my eye. Soon as I added them into the aquarium 2 hours later dropped some food in, they went nuts!

That may possibly be the answer, they are feeding right away and seem happy just want to make sure I care for them correctly.

If they are feeding right away they are probably fine as long as they keep that up.

These sweepers (Pempheris schomburgkii) have been kept and aquacultured by the New England Aquarium (sadly, I don't have access to the info around how though).

They're nocturnal, shallow-water fish that feed on zooplankton and reach ~6" in length; they reportedly sleep in caves and ledges during the day, and they come out in a mass to feed, sometimes feeding in groups, pairs, or individually.

Honestly, the sound like a pretty good aquarium candidate, I'd guess they're just not commonly collected because they're not super colorful.
