hello I’m planning to paint a 57g cube reef tank (non tempered low iron glass) and I’m not sure if I should use Flat Black or Gloss Black. Would like to hear which one is
-better looking
-probably easier to work with
Thank you

This is what I used. Think it was like $8 at Walmart or Michael's. Picked up a sponge roller & paint tray that came with a small sponge brush to do the trim all for $5 at an Ocean State Job Lot.. Put 5 coats on a 20g, 40B, and 65g with this single bottle. It is non toxic. The key factor.
Satin Acrylic Paint. My tank is glass.
It dries quick. Put a fan on it and you can do another coat after 50 minutes.

Thank you for your input. What is the difference between satin black and others I mentioned?

The paint sheen doesn’t matter when are painting the back side of glass. It will always look the same on the other side.

This ^. The finish that you select only describes the outer surface of the paint (ie the side you don’t see when painting the back of a fish tank) so feel free to choose any. Neither is easier to work with. I went with an epoxy black. Another option if you were so inclined, would be to apply a vinyl backing so it is removable. There are lots of color options, and even smoked options (which wouldn’t be possible with paint). I did this on a smaller tank and it wasn’t that hard.
