Hopefully my stupidity will prevent any other new folks from making the same mistake I made.

I got the gorilla glue because it’s a gel.... so it had to be easier than normal little tubes of superglue I had laying around, and those lacked the viscosity to get a hold on the porous rockwork.

Well, I struggled and struggled..... glued a piece of larger substrate to my puffer’s head, covered my hand.... COVERED it, in glue, and pulled rocks out and had my 20+ head duncan just float away after lowering into the water despite a trickle of glue running through the rock, mostly onto my hand.

Well.... What I grabbed in my haste is the glue on the right...... “gorilla glue” is not what you want (or maybe it is and I’m still doing it wrong). Gorilla GEL SUPERGLUE is what you want. I went back to the store and looked closer at the label and realized they weren’t the same thing. I thought the one I got the first time was just a bigger bottle of the one on the left. After going back and discovering the two bottles pictured below were basically the same cost, I knew I made a mistake!

Don’t be dumb people..... don’t be me.

Yep, that's what happens when a brand name diversifies across a number of products.....confusion. Gorilla now sells their original polyurethane glue, along with super glue, caulk, and tapes. Just adds confusion.

Best off buying the least expensive gel super glue....it's all the same, a cyanoacrylate!

I “tried” to read the chemicals used in each. Actually that was why I moved them over to where I took the picture.... I needed more light. I had a headache long before I saw what was in either of these glues!

I use this from Dollar Tree for $1. I just squeeze a blob on the bottom, hold it in the water for a minute to let it harden a bit then press the frag onto the rock surface. I have to hold it still for a few minutes.

Sorry to hear that hopefully everything is ok. Were you able to get the glue off the puffer's head? I'm sure it didn't want a substrate toupee.

Right - Clear Gorilla glue is gorilla glue that dries clear.... I did this once (almost) - my wife brought it to me... She was not happy to go back to store

It does say on the label “Fully cures in 24 hours”. Maybe I just needed to pull a bed up to my tank, and sleep with my arm in the tank.

I use the 1oz bottles of Maxi Cure from BRS for $6. I’ve tried the little cheap tubes, but they’re a pain. The 1 oz bottles last forever. The reason I don’t get the the 2oz bottles is because the tip gets gummed up after a while. If they came with extra tips, I’d do the big bottles. The 2 oz bottle have lasted me over six months and I glue up a ton of frags and do a lot of aquascaping.
