Thinking about glueing down some of my frags from this weekend today. Never done this before. What kind of glue is safe? How do I remove the frag from the disc? General procedure. I am thinking I should let the super glue dry for about 30 seconds outside the water to harden a bit then place it and hold in place for a minute or so. Thanks,
Dave

You can get gel type superglue from any dollar store. As for getting them off of the current plug just be carefull. If they are glued on they should come off fairly easily. If epoxy was used it will be harder.

30 seconds may be too long. I typically drop on some glue, dip it in the water and immediately place the frag. You will probably have to slide it around a little to break the glue bubble.

for any zoas, I would just leave them on the disk and glue it down. That way, when they take off you can easily remove the original plug and sell or trade it.

Superglue GEL. Dont do the liquid, itll get everywhere. Use gloves too!! Saltwater quick-cures the outside of superglue, so put in on, hold the frag in place for about 30-45 seconds, then put it back in the tank.

No. You can place glue on the rock underwater. it is a little more difficult to get it to stick to the rock. Or if it is a hard coral you can place some glue on the base and stick it to the rock.

one more question. Can I remove the plug part of the disk without breaking it to pieces? Best strategy for doing this?

yea just use a hammer and a chisel and not pound to hard works fine, as for the actual glueing dont worry about how long the coral is out of the water in my experiences i have left corals out for as long as 30mins with NO problems at all. In the ocean when its low tids some times corals are out of water for hours with no ill effect at all

The best glue to use is clearly the thick ZAP GLUE. Available at retail or thru internet train site. Just google zap glue. It also cures nicely in salt water and never lets go.
