Gluing Corals

Every time i have to glue corals its a gong show.

I currently use this reef glue in a small tooth paste type of tube. it gets on everything and its sticky as hell. I pull the rocks out of the water and corals out of the water and glue it on the rock as best i can then put the rock back in the water.

I would like to glue them underwater in the display if this is possible? If so how is this done??

I need help........ my current plan of attack is a gong show and i think stressful to the corals

I use the AF Poly Glue. it’s granulates you heat in boiling water. Once done- and you realised you made too much, you simply let it dry and re-heat it again.

Works a treat, its not messy and it holds coral frags- and even rock scape!

Use super glue gel. Gorilla gel superglue or loctite gel work great. It’s super easy and mess free. If you want to glue the coral to the rock under water, just pull the coral out and put a big dab on the bottom of the coral. Dip the glue covered part in a separate cup of tank water so it forms a film over the glue instead of it getting all over your tank. Then put the frag in the tank and press the coral to the rock wherever you want it. Give it a little bit of a twist to break open the film on the glue and hold for ten or fifteen seconds.
 
Put gel glue on frag plug/coral that you are wanting to attach(outside of tank). Then put that into tank against the existing rock. Move it back and forth a bit(the glue gets a little crust as soon as it touches saltwater so this help). Then hold for several seconds and should be good for small pieces.

I guess my main thing is don't worry about taking the rock you are gluing to out of the tank.

Can you use this method underwater in the display?

Thanks guys ! getting some good ideas. I am going to order some new reef glue tonight and attempt to glue my 4 new frags later this week !!

Gorilla gel superglue XL is my go to! Great for size/value/cost. Boom boom boom checks all my boxes.
 
I use regular old Super Glue Gel and some SeaChem epoxy putty. Kneed a small ball of epoxy, and then on the bottom of the frag I put a dollop of super glue gel, then press the expoxy ball It that, then another small dollop of super glue gel on the bottom the epoxy, like a little glue+expoxy+glue sandwich. Then I press the frag onto a rock and hold it for ~30 seconds. Never had an issue with this method.

My method is to place a small amount of superglue jell onto a finger and rub it onto the rock you want to attach it to and then some glue on the frag and stick it together. Glue loves to stick to glue. Also this method insures that the bond to the rock is solid especially if the is loose coralline or green algae.

Gorilla gel superglue or loctite gel can be used in saltwater aquarium?

Is the chemical in marine grade glue and gorilla glue similar?

(Google search indicates they are not same).
