gluing plugs

Silicon, even aquarium type, is only safe once cured.

I have no problem with a superglue gel. Sometimes you need reef safe epoxy for a gap filler so the superglue can hold.

As mentioned aquarium safe silicone needs to cure / set before contact with water so that's out question for gluing frags down.
Using reef epoxy and superglue combined seems to get mentioned alot on best way to do it.
When I put frags in temp place I just use little dab of li glue and when accliminated to the light and want to move to different spot, just gently twist and usually comes off as superglue strong hold in one direction but not another, can't remember scientific names without googling lol bit when put In permanent place I use epoxy/ glue method and just smidge the epoxy/ glue around bottom of frag plug if can fit in a hole or sometimes just gently break stem of plug of with pliers/ bone cutters and sometimes easier as flatter larger surface.
Good luck and yeah it's a pain in the butt ha ha

Any reason we cant use aquarium safe silicone.
There are glues very similar to silicone which can be applied under water in running tanks and some claim to be even food save. I don't recall exactly what it is chemically, I think a copolymer. It is sold as underwater glue or underwater sealant in cartridges and tubes, similar to silicone.

Gotta glue some frags to my rocks today. Will the super glue dry underwater? Someone recommended using gorilla gel glue. I was gonna grab some today but I read it has to cure for 7 days before it can be put in the tank… haha well that frag will be dead by then

Super Glue is a pressure set adhesive, and so requires good contact. It doesn't gap fill well underwater.

If you press and hold for 60-120 seconds it should get a good grip if it has good contact and is held firmly together.

Yeah superglue will be ok underwater ,what happens is you apply superglue to frag plug and quickly put in the water and firmly hold it in place, when the superglue hits the water it gets a protective bubble around the glue ,where outside of glue is setting but inside the now bubble of glue hasn't so this why need press firmly and good idea to twist so bubble of glue breaks.
Normal superglue ( cyanoacyrilite, probably spelt wrong ha ha ) on dry land ,the moisture in the air causes a chemical reaction and makes it set super fast.

But there's lots of good videos on YouTube that describe it much better than I can.

Never heard of 7 days for a superglue to cure but if that's what it says on back off glue container then that's what it says.
I just buy the cheapest ( ca) superglue I can find ,usually £1 a bottle, another option is going to an lfs and o ly difference is the bottle got picture of a fish or some aquatic life and says aquarium safe but now price 10x as much so nothing down for stupid pricing like that using people's paranoia to charge more for same product nah nah nah

Good luck

I went ahead and got gorilla glue super glue gel (with the green cap) which has been working great. Although my dang turbo snails keep knocking things off. The only thing I noticed is a film will come off when I initially put it in the water but other then that it seems to be working great!
