Greetings all. Looking for some opinions and logistics on starting from scratch or buying and moving a mature tank.

My knowledge and history are from a different century. I did freshwater then saltwater. Lots are different now. If presented with the possibility of a used tank and livestock or starting from scratch what would you do? Seems moving a live tank would be a daunting task. Corals, anemones, fish and live rock to keep alive during move and setting up.

New would be as big as I can swing. My goal is 8' to 10'x36"dx24"h. Starting as FOWLR advancing to corals.

The existing system for sale is 8'x24"x30.

One more ? Where is the new build thread? I can't find it!

I would go new. You have the ability to do things YOUR way as opposed to rehashing something somebody already did and decided to sell.
Your way can be old school, like you did back in the day, or the latest greatest most sparkly gizmo promising miraculous results.
Plus.... If the tank is glass, moving an established large tank can be a risky proposition if you aren't 100% sure what you are doing. Add to that the age of the tank and the possibility of leaks that wouldn't be covered under a manufacturer warranty.
