Git into hobby a week ago with a biocube 32 cycling and how learned a lot.

My boss says to me today... saltwater....I have one If you want it. Comes with everything. Sump , reactor. Protien skimmer lights all the pumps heaters auto dose controllers etc.... how much? Nothing just come get it ....

The rub.... the tank is 300g custom 1 " acrylic. 48x46x33. Widest entrance to my house is 32 inches and have to take doors off to get that.

Can't fit it in my house. Arrgggg

Anybody know relatively how much just the tank would sell for used? Assume for moment great condition prob 5 years to 10 years old, clean no leaks

Not looking to make a huge amount off it just can't store in house but want all the other stuff for a new build prob a 120

Take the windows off their frame and get it in there!:D
Welcome to R2R
Hmmm interesting thought I believe it is frame less so not sure what might be involved to disassemble the panels. Will research it and see if I can figure out. More so re assemble so that it doesn't leak

I mean some window in homes only open up half way with one panel being the slider and the other a stationary but sometimes both those can be removed from the track giving you a wider opening to you house

Lifting a 300g tank threw a window is going to take some glaziers tho!! or 4 big dudes with suction cups Because that’s gonna be a heavy one!

Oh got it yeah for sure. I have a slider at the back on same level where tank would go but it's not super wide. I woukd essentially have to take out the entire slider frame.

It's winter with 2 feet of snow and currently 20 below zero... not a winter project

Yeah its a little bigger than I want or what is probably suited for my house (although main floor frame on slab) so weight is not an issue.

Figured I would sell tank or give to good home knowing that I get all the other equipment in the deal to get it out of his house ;)

This is one is better asked to guys with big tanks let’s see if anyone from the #reefsquad has a better understanding of 300g tanks

300g tank is going to be in 300 to 400 lb range empty without stand

Yea if you just started with a bio cube I’d stick with that for a year or two before upgrading. There’s so much to learn threw hands on experience and a tank that size will be so stressful the first time around

Yeah probably the 2500 to 300 range once you add water. Rock substrate stand sump equipment etc.

Always sage advice. My first tank yes but being obsessive I have spent 1000s of hours researching every imaginable topic and while that is no replacement for experience and hands on. Not going in blind or understanding of what's involved. Size and effort doesn't scare me

And that was before I bought one piece of equipment... again not being cocky and have a huge amount to learn and will. Just that I am. Fully aware if costs, time committments setbacks etc.

Well with that dedication I would say save it for when your ready to fill it up. What options do you have for storage.
Tough. It's winter here so not going to leave it outside. Personally if going with 300g I would prefer to go with non custom more standard size 6. Ft. Yes I'm sure a nice blue tang would fit just fine in 300g but everything I've read is they require swim room and 6 feet is preferable. And want these little fish happy.

I can reuse the equipment which is all high end and professionally maintained twice a week up until about a month ago. would upgrade some pieces but having the base components does cut costs for a larger setup. Just not ideal size being a 4 foot by 4 foot cube basically

Will say though that this hobby is expensive and addictive.

My house should have bigger doors on the level I am putting tank. Lol

I'm thinking bigger house with bigger doors.

Standard door to fit a wheel chair is 32 inches and your just one inch away from that. But a 4 foot deep cube is pretty intense and something I would avoid because I hate reaching down into my tank and that’s only 24inches deep
