Hey guys and gals!, does anyone have any cool ideas for a latch/closer/lock system for a cabinet door to a stand?
I was thinking it would be rad to have a button around the back only I could reach that would change over a magnet or something?
It would have to be something tricky or out of reach, a simple push button magnet would be easily opened by a 1 1/2 year old.
Goal-keep kids out, small, affordable, and easy!
Thanks

What about a cabinet lock? You can get them at Home Depot for a couple of dollars. Its nothing tricked out but serves the purpose of keeping the kids out. All you have to do is drill a hole in the door and mount the lock. Then a key could be kept near.

If you done a button in the back, once the kids figured out it was there they would probably do there best to get at it.

Not a bad idea, but don't want to ugly up the door with a lock cylinder. I was thinking of some sort of cylinoid like in an automatic door opener on a car. But I am worried it would be too big and expensive.

I saw this post and it rang a bell...a friend of mine did the same thing. She had a 92 gallon planted tank with CO2 injection and she had two little girls at the time. This uses a magnetic key, and the latch installs inside the cabinet.

+1 Make sure to test it a couple of times before you close the door though. Not that I would ever do such a dumb thing.
