Greetings all,

About 3 weeks ago, I purchased a Hi-Fin Gobie/Pistol Shrimp Combo. They set up shop, and, my hi-fin was doing great....coming out, eating anything I'd throw in the tank. Last week, I added a Rainsford's Gobie, with the instruction from my LFS, they would do fine together in my 29G Biocube.

Well, Here is a pic of my Rainsford's getting close to the Hi-Fin's home:

this morning, I found my Hi-Fin jammed head first, into some rock work. I'm wondering if last night, he was chased out and harassed to death?

During the day they didn't have much to do with each other....but at night?

Now I'm wondering what will become of the Pistol that was paired with the Hi-Fin.

:-(

Did my weekly water change yesterday, and last evening the Hi-Fin ate well. All params are excellent, a slight reading of Nitrates, but nothing else.

Those two gobies should have ignored one another and coexisted just fine in a 29g.

Experience tells me it was something else.

The pistol shrimp will be fine on it's own.

That's what I'm thinking. I do have a Pom Pom and Strawberry Crab in the tank as well. Water Tested good, only measurable item was Nitrates, on the low end.

My guess would be the strawberry crab over the pom pom, but you may have a hitchhiker in there that you don't know about. Crabs are opportunistic in nature, so if they can catch it they will eat it.

Man, crabs are a creature of mystique. I had 2 emeralds in my previous build and they never touched a living thing. I'll keep an eye on my Rainsford's....he's a bit bigger so maybe it will be ok. I've not seen the strawberry crab for 2 weeks!
