I'm in the process of setting up a 55 gallon tank, cycling to happen soon, and I'm planning what I'll be getting. I like Anemones and gobies but are they compatible? I know the Anemones have stinging tentacles. I'm looking to get an assortment of gobies and was hoping for some bubble-tip anemone, mini carpet anemone, etc. Should I kybosh my desire for anemones? Looking for some opinions with experience as I don't want the anemones to eat my gobies. Thanks

The anemones will eat any fish they can get their tentacles on, minus a few special fish. Gobies are not one of those though. Typically fish will be smart enough to avoid them so I see no worries with keeping gobies in the same tank as an BTA. I keep both myself.

I'd attempt to keep the anemone population down (they naturally split) therefore giving the gobies plenty of space to do their thing without risking death.

I can say that not all gobies are equally aware. I can say that because during a tank feeding, I watched my excited yellowline goby try to land on a maxi-mini carpet anemone. (It didn't end well for the goby...)

And they can be easily spooked which can also lead to unfortunate events like that.
