So how have your experiences been with different kinds of gobies for your sand beds? I was going to get a sleeper striped goby for my sand bed given that it is a fine grain sand. So I thought this would be a good opportunity for others to share experiences with what gobies they have.

I had a gold head sleeper goby at one time. They love to throw sand everywhere including on your corals and live rocks. Also they love to excavate underneath rocks so make sure you have them stable on the bottom of there tank. Really good at keeping the sand stirred though.

I have one, like Kingsman90 says, they do throw sound around but my bed is clean and they also eat regular fish food as well so if they clean too good, they won't starve.

Are they jumpers like most other gobies?

I had a sleeper banded goby and a orange spot shrimp goby. Loved them both. The sleeper was the hardest working fish in my tank always had sand in his mouth. The shrimp goby aka Bobby eats regular food but dose sift a little but he is so funny he starts waving his side fins really fast wagging his tail and hopping up and down. We love him

I never had any issues with him jumping but maybe that was just mine. He usually stayed close to the bottom of the tank the whole time.
Now I did have a watchman goby go awol and didn’t see him for quite some time and it turned out he was living in the filter sock for a few weeks. He must’ve taken a ride through the overflow in his chance to escape.

Interesting, I've had 2 diamond spot gobies in my tank and they both jumped out. I have a screen top now to prevent that again.

Neil Diamond Goby has kept my sandbed spotless. He is an eating machine. Eats fish food too.

Now the other side of him is that he excavates the hell out of my sandbed. No matter how many times I level the sandbed out he re-does it in no time. My rockscape in on the glass and he still tunnels through the sand and under the rock.

Over all though because of how well he cleans the sand I will put up with sand hills and and valleys.

Same, the watchman I had was a escape artist and was always jumping into the overflow and had made it out of the tank once. The diamond I have now never goes past 1/2 way up. Mine isn't a spitter thankfully.

I guess he just adds character to the tank lol

I really liked my old orange diamond spot. Nice looking and interesting to watch. I always thought the goby and shrimp relationship was a cool thing to observe

Got a dimond watchman goby he keeps sand been berry clean all he does all day shift sand made a mess of thing the first month. Now just little sand hear and there. And got yellow watchman goby to he's a little off his rocker cuz he does totally opposite of what he supposed to do he just swims at surface all day instead of be in borrows lol.
