Going backwards!

Anyone else been going backward in technology?

Was running 4 Hydra 32’s above my 75g (was mixed reef now sps dominated). Just hooked up two 250w radium mh. The 4 hydras are now staggered on either side for ramp up and down/adding a little bit more blue.

The reasoning is i do have some colonies and also am doing montis on the bottom, ive heard and seen too many stories with great growth and coloration due to MH lights. Got everything set perfect and have awsome par readings per my apogee. Never run MH lights either, cant wait to see how they do!

I’ve jumped on board with certain items that Are in budget, make life easier, and improve the health of my livestock. That being said, some old school items perform every bit as well as anything brand new. Calcium reactors, Venturi skimmers, sea sweeps, metal halides, and real ocean harvested rock will perform at the peak of what is possible with a captive reef still to this day. No reason to look down on any of that.
