I plan on getting a sump for my 30 gallon this weekend. My question is...Can i transfer my chemical/bio media from my cannister to the sump? Will this disturb anything? Do i even need the bio media anymore since the tank has live rock and a sand bed?

Back in the early 90’s some of had wet dry filters and or canister filters. I remember reading an article (I think it was Julian Sprung in FAMA) that said you can just remove your other filters if you have live rock. I was scared but did it. It worked out well. I would just remove that canister and don’t look back if you have liverock and sand.
