Going from Cannister to sump

I was wanting to know if I should spray paint my refugium baffles black so light won't spill over or does it even matter

Mine are glass. Depends on what you want to do with the sump?

I used a few coats of plastidip for my returns, so far, so good.

i'd double confirm the product you're using isn't toxic to your inhabitants and then paint only the baffles that contain your refugium. Depending how your sump is arranged you likely won't be able to catch all of the light spill anyway but it definitely helps.
