Going from LED to LED/T5 hybrid

Hey guys so right now I have a single radion xr15 pro over my jbj 45g I’m thinking about adding a 24” aquatic life hybrid to the system to fill in the shadows. My question is what is the best way of adding this light without overdoing it. Is there a proper way of acclimating my tank to this new light?

Have the t5's come on for very short time period, 30 minutes for a week, 45 min for a week, etc. Till you get where you want to be with time

Not sure if you have a par meter or not. When I switched my leds out to a t5 hybrid on my jbj 45 I dialed it back to a little less par than what I had. Worked out fine.

Just remember to dial back your radion to adjust for the extra par.

Hm okay that’s a good idea do you think I should do 15 min increments? Or could I do more?

That’s the other option I was thinking about I figured I could just dial back my radion but It’s a little sketchy because I don’t know how much to dial it back and I don’t have a par meter.

I would do 15 or 20 minute increments honestly don’t rush it. There are other things you can do turn down your LEDs, raise the fixture higher if possible but I think the easiest thing is to just slowly ramp up the time

When I upgraded my LEDs with T5s, I didn't adjust the LEDs at all, and started the T5s at 1 hour midday.
Increased the T5 photoperiod by 30 minutes every week or two.
Now the T5s are at 6 hours and everyone seems to be doing fine.
