I have a standard 90gal tank and I am using the marineland 24 hr system. This is 2x150watt halides along with 4 t5 bulbs.

I am wanting to go LED in the very near future and have about 1k to spend on this. My wife is not in favor of my hanging these from the ceiling so tank mount is a must.
I really like the AI sol sets as I feel they really could be the best bang for my buck but not being able to hang from the ceiling is not going too allow me the 12 inch above the water I need with these. Anyone have some suggestions for a LED setup with my current budget and mounting restrictions?

Make a light rail that mounts to the back of the stand out of electrical conduit. Bend it so you can hang them above the tank which will avoid the hanging from the ceiling issue.

Another option would be to build a canopy and mount them in there at the right height.

If you need it to be right against the tank, you could make a tank mount out of acryllic and do a DIY light without optics. Spread them out more for better light distribution.

Or if all else fails, buy the MaxSpect system and their rail kit. A bit out of the 1K budget I think but not too bad.
