Going old school - HQI (MH) for SPS tank - need recommendations

I would almost suggest 400w. I use dual 250s in my 90 and have vho to supplement the visual brightness of it. The 250s work on the 24 deep but It seemsna bit dull appearance wise at bottom. I use hamilton 14k as im not a huge fan of the super blue

I'll go with the 250w for now and see how I like it. I'm new to MH, coming from LED and definitely not liking the look there. I'll see what happens... :)

I do. I use an 8x54 watt sunpower on my 90 gallon. Tank footprint is 48"x18", light fixture is also 48"x18". You'd expect massive light spill but the canopy totally contains it all and keeps it directed into the tank. Highly recommend as big of lights as you can and use something to shield the spill. Better coverage that way

@BoneXriffic do you have a FTS of your tank? I'm also not a fan of super blue... :)

And without

I have had 2 spectras and looking for a third. Optimal tank width for that light is 30-36". The infinity would be 20-28". I'm not saying you can't do it. I'm just saying I would not recommend it. There are much better ways to get light in a narrow tank.

Bonexriffic. If I were ever doing MH again I would be giving those hamiltons strong consideration. That's a fantastic color temp both with and without the vho

It is nice, the vho came with the tank so i incorperated it for some nice color

@BoneXriffic so I suppose the infinity would be a better choice for the width of tank I have?? :( I picked up the spectras today and if the spillover is too much, even with a canopy, I'll put one over my 27" cube (27x27x27)

anyone have any thoughts on the infinity? Or I came across the NOVA II. Any thoughts on those? Would it look good to mix spectra or infinity with NOVA II?
