Going on vacation: Feeding Fish

I am going on a short 4 day vacation. I have a reef tank with 3 fish. Can they go 4 days without eating and be ok or should I get a friend to come feed them while I'm away? I feed once a day. Thanks

They can go up to a week without eating. Unless your friend knows to not over feed the fish, it would probably be better for the tank until you get back.

If you have a reef club nearby, it is always a good idea to have someone watching the tank to make sure nothing goes wrong. They would also be informed on what to feed so it's not like you have the average person going over to check on it.

i think the fish would be fine, but I like having an insurance policy if I can.

I was fortunate my parents took care of our tank when I went away, well my mother did and she still does a portion of the job taking care of it and I appreciate her. But that's because I spend 12 hrs a day atleast at college than I need to work lol.

that was not the case in January though. She had no idea what to do so I was left with nobody that knew how to take care of stuff. So what I did was this. Made sure there were plenty of ro water so she can add a half gallon every other day. And I had her feed twice. Once two days after I left and than two days prior. Of course that will change depending on how long your going away. As long as you have someone with common sense and you show them ONLY this amount no more no matter what and quickly explain why you should be good. Of course don't pick one of your buddies/family members that is the source of stupidity laughter. It's not hard for someone new to just add fresh ro and feed twice a predetermined amount.
