This will be my first time ever going to something like this, are there good deals on corals to be had ? What should I expect at a shoe like this ?

Can anyone answer his question? I am also interested in hearing. The more important question for me is, I have been to frag swaps before where the line starts 3 hours before the show. Is this event the same way? I would be driving 6 hours straight there and would rather not wait that long, lol

Went last year, not right when it opened and it wasn't overly crowded around 1. Like any show there are deals to be had, just need to look. There is a good vendor listing and with all the new stuff be released should be interesting.

+1 ^ went last year as well.
Here's my take on it-
Pros:
-many vendors
-large SPS / zoa selection
-some of the hammer corals were priced to sell quick (I got 3 branching hammers, softball sized, with 4+ heads each for total cost of $100, and he threw in a blue mushroom colony)
-interesting new gadgets for reef controllers
-interested gadgets for pumps/sea swirls/ skimmers
-big clownfish selection
-free parking
Cons:
-limited overall fish selection which was disappointing
-price of some gadgets was high

Overall, it was something unique to see. Don't think I'll be going every year though. This is a once every 2-3 yr expo, IMO

In my opinion a trade show should offer equipment coral at a discount, is that typically not the case with RAP shows?

I bought a ghost overflow from Synergy and it was discounted 20% I believe. This was directly from them since they were at the show
