Going to try growing plankton

How many people grow their own plankton? And how do you do it iv watched YouTube videos and they just show lights and bottles of green water LOL. I plain is to use a old vodka bottle drill a hole in the lid and run a air line down in it 1 cup of my tank water and 2 tbs of live plankton and set it in my frag tank to keep temp and get light. Any thoughts or suggestions?
