i have the Marineland 300DD. 72 wide by 36 deep. Any recommendations on the size and quantity would be great. I was thinking of going with 2 of the 32’s, but was wondering if that is going to be enough to cover the tank from a depth perspective? I definitely don’t want to have to spend 2k on lighting for my tank. Thanks.

I would go with 2 of the 60 inch fixtures. The 3 feet front to back is going to force you to get 2 rows of fixtures. That is if you want to not be limited by your lights. You could hang one fixture his and grow softies if that is your thing.I know that your tank is 72 inches wide, but most people don't have rock and coral mounted on the side panels of the tank.

You will need 2 rows. Or supplemental t5 lighting. If you stick with your plan you will not get enough coverage. I have a 90 gallon, 4 foot tank with a 4 foot photon v2 mounted at about 12 inches. When I had it at 8in it was barely covering the 18in depth of the tank

If hanging them high isn’t an issue , you most likely will be able to get the spread you want and still have a lot of power With only two fixtures.

I’d guess 14-16-18 in up.

IMO , what you’re targeting is 80-100 par on the sand.
Your probaly goint to still have 500-800 up top. That’s a pretty good par spread for a mixed reef.
No clam on the sand though unless you test it.
