Gold indo torch pricing?

That’s the interesting thing. You would think these torches and other corals would be available everywhere considering how many are brought in and bought.

That really makes me think that on the whole many of these corals are dying in peoples tanks. I know I bought 3 heads and 8 months later I had 8-9 heads. You would think you couldn’t give these corals away if there was any type of real overall success across the hobby.

I agree with this statement in general. I've always wondered what the survival rate is on the corals sold in all these live sales. There seems to be one every weekend now with each one selling anywhere from a few hundred to a thousand frags. How many of these are still alive in 6 months? 50%?

Just saw a Aussie gold torch go in the live sale today in less than a minute for $600. Here I was refusing to pay $150 at the last local frag swap late last year.

Indo torches are back!

I’ve seen them now on at least three online retailer’s websites. They’re definitely from recently opened Indo. My first thought was to wait for prices to go down. The retailer I called and spoke with said there are a limited number of torch permits from Indo right now and when this wave is gone, there won’t be more till September. How accurate is that? Who knows, but it got me to pull the trigger. Pricey, but not insane.

Should I have waited for better prices and selection? Only time will tell.

I lost my fave torch of all time right after Indo closed. Invasive clove polyps creeped up the stem and annoyed it to death. By the time I realized what was killing it, too late.. Attaching a pic if it. It was freaking glorious. It was a shiny light green with purple tips. It loved my flow and had insane polyp extension. That’s why I’m an Indo Torch lover and have never bought an Aussie. Aussies are nice, but personally I love those long flowing tentacles that only the Indos have.

Also, here’s a pic of the one I just got. Don’t have it yet, but excited to see it in my tank!

Interesting - though this is an old topic - I was at the LFS I go to the other day - and asked - wow - so the prices for Indo and other corals must be doing much better due to the ban being lifted. The answer was 'no - not really - though Covid is not supposed to affect 'transport of goods' - the supply of corals esp from Indonesia is still difficult - they are fragging their larger colonies and selling those. anyone else hear this?

I heard from different people that Indonesian suppliers are keeping track of forums like this and Facebook and jacking prices up at the source

By the way - the price will increase as the number available decreases - lets say - 25 of the 100 people have gotten their coral at $200 - now where are 5 left - and 75 people want them - what do you think will happen to the price. Its all about supply and demand.
Yep. People kill corals. That is what drives the pricing in this hobby.
