Gold neon goby injury

Yikes... noticed one half of my pair was missing all day. Not like them. Decided to move rocks and look for it, and there it was, hiding. It’s possible it’s from moving rocks, but I think it’s a bite wound, but a nasty one. Possibly from a flame cardinal? Does it look like a bite wound? Any body else have any other idea what might cause this so I can prevent future occurrences? Any hope for this guy? I can run out to petco tomorrow, so if there is, and I can get meds there. I may have some melafix here. He still has some spunk, but I think he’s probably doomed.... sigh...

Yikes! I'd treat a wound like that with Nitrofuracine Green powder. If you don't have it, the closest thing to it would be Furan2.

Hey Big G, I could go get something tomorrow... Hour round trip, you think it has a chance (like enough that it’s worth a 40 mile drive)? Look like a bite? My luck lately...

I took an out of water **** to see if that’d help judge severity... I think there may be an exposed organ... Amazing....

Furan2 is a good med to have on hand in your fish med kit. Could be so many things: bite, injury, ulcer, etc.

Yea. I’m debating rehoming these flame cardinals, but not sure they did it...

Sorry for your loss. My own experience with Neon Gobies is that they are rather fragile.
