Hey everyone. I would like some opinions and feedback on adding a Gold Nugget Maroon Clown to a tank first before any other fish. Ive read that they can be quite territorial and aggresive to other fish.

Hey everyone. I would like some opinions and feedback on adding a Gold Nugget Maroon Clown to a tank first before any other fish. Ive read that they can be quite territorial and aggresive to other fish if i were to add to an already stocked tank. Would it be best to just add all the fish i would like in one shot?

Depends on what other fish you plan to add, and how big the tank and clown are.

If you're planning to add firefish and flasher wrasses to a 40-breeder ... I'd add the clown later in the list.

If you're planning to add triggerfish and adult queen angelfish in a 1,000 gallon system - the clown maybe oughtta be there waiting.

Its a Red Sea Reefer 350 so main display is 72 Gallons. Im unsure of what im going to add as yet. Waiting to see what the local fish guy has quarentined and waiting to be sold.

In that size tank I would strongly recommend patience and wait in adding the maroon clown until you have a better idea of what else you want in the tank. They can be quite aggressive.

I have 2 Lightning Maroon clowns in my 40b. These guys were added last. I also have 1 Cardinal fish, 3 Chromis, 1 wheelers Gobi and a royal gramma. The maroons stay close to there Anemone and only bother the other fish if they come to close. These guys do just fine in my tank even though they hate me. They will attack me every time I do cleaning or anything inside the tank.
