Gold nugget maroons added with frostbite gladiator

I added a pit of Gold Nugget maroons to my 210 gallon reef and they are an inch or less long. The paired frostbite and gladiator let them know when they wandered into their area, but the maroons are way too small to stand up for themselves right now. They’ve been getting along fairly well after the initial “this is my turf” meetings and will see how things go as the maroons grow larger. Planning to add two anemones in a few months, guess it will be two BTA’s? Pics below

I hope it works out. I seen how vicious my maroons can be and I would be really nervous for the Ocellaris once the Maroons get some size. I seen how my female would travel all the way across the tank in my 144 and beat the male to a pulp before they paired up. Maybe someone has had some luck doing this but I don't think the Ocellaris will stand a chance. I hope I'm wrong.

Unfortunately I think you're right, it may work for a bit but probably won't end well

Maybe not, but will see. Adding at such a small size will hopefully help. Will have plenty of hiding places in the 6ft tank before the maroons are big enough to be bossy, hoping that will he’ll as well.

maroons? i’m going to vote “no” - even in a 6 footer. maybe if you build the rock work so that sightlines are broken from anemones in the corners...have a backup plan.

It is possible to do. I found a few YouTube videos with Ocellaris and Maroons in the same tanks living peacefully, so it is possible. Some of the videos had a large female as well, so you know the maroon wasn’t just a young and undeveloped fish. Looking forward to seeing what happens, either way. I do know from my last pair of maroons, they can be quite nasty, but that was a 75 gallon tank and just a different situation altogether.
