I ordered a gold rim tang a few days ago. it is in town waiting for it to arrive.

my game plan for qt is bring it up to temp by putting the bag in the qt ttank for 15 or 20 minutes. then release it in the qt. i tested the water and copper level is .25 which im a little concern about but will see if it will handle that copper. level. but will see. then release the tang in the qt and lights out all day til tomorrow morning plus thinking putting some nori in there immediately to to make sure if it is hungary it will have something to eat. if not it will be in there for when it is ready to eat. any other advise on this?

Check your salinity and the salinity in the bag. Often, shipped fish are in water between 1.019 and 1.020 while most of us keep our salinity closer to 1.026. If the salinity in the bag is in the lower range, you should drop your salinity in QT to match and then raise it slowly over 2 or 3 days.

Which copper product are you using? 0.25 should be ok regardless. But the target for Copper power or Copper Safe is 2.50 ppm while the target for Cupramine is 0.50 ppm. You can wait a day for the fish to adjust before you raise the copper unless you see evidence of parasites. In that case, you should get it to the target within 4 - 12 hours.

Do not pour any of the water in the bag into your QT. Put the fish into a net to transfer into the tank.

Give him a few hours without lights on before you try to feed him.

i plan on just puttinhg thr nori in a clip and when its ready it can just nibble on it. im useing frritz copper safe. but may switch to general cure for first treatment. I think the copper just leacched out of the pvc that I put in it from my last fish i qted. so not to worried about that. if I see it laying on the botto of the tank then I'll just leave it till tomorrow and see if it recovers. the last tang i got it i found it laying on the bottom and wasn't breathing. well the gills weren't moving. so i declared it as gone at that point.

Before release, add a cup of water to bag every 15-20 and equalize salinity with that of qt tank before any release and do Not enter any bag water into qt tank

what should i use first prazi-pro or general cure ? or just observe it to see if it has diseases and how soon should i start treating it?

Copper should be your first treatment. If you see any signs of parasites on the skin , do not hesitate. Otherwise, wait a day or two and try to make sure the fish is eating.
Prazi-pro treatment should follow 30 days of Copper.
