I believe this looks like a bacteria infection. It's more invert the skin and def. Not ich. Pic is to hard to get and they are more noticeable when in the light. Almost looks like pimples. I have metro and seachem focus. Since it's a tang can I soak nori in it and bind it to that so I know the tang is eating it. He is eating fine and aching fine. Haven't noticed any white poop either

A picture is gonna help us give you a positive ID. I know it’s hard but it will be better than nothing.

Hi,

Is this a new fish or other new fish in tank? Wondering if it may be flukes. Have you tried a fresh water dip to check?

I bought him fresh from my lfs. Went through qt for 3 weeks and never saw these bumps. Eats fine and swings like everyone else. No other fish in my dt are showing signs at all

Still need opinions on this. I'm thinking about soaking a nori sheet in meds with focus and having him eat it

Looks like ich and perhaps something else as well. Photos are quite blurry so it’s hard to be certain but removal and placement in a quarantine with copper and metroplex will treat most things, add kanaplex and furan 2 and you cover external infections.

Copper for 30, antibiotics for 14. Or copper and abx for 14 then transfer to a new competently sterile quarantine that shares nothing with the first

I know it's not ich. It's under the skin. Nothing is on top. I've been in saltwater almost 10 years and I've seen ich plenty of times just haven't seen this. Almost looks like pimples under the skin

Clearer photos would be helpful, but technically the parasite is below, the white spots are the mucous coat protecting the insertion point. Pimples aren't really common (or anything describing) except with reactions to copper on rare occasions in QT.

yea I will try to get better photos. I did treat him with copper power and those spots weren't their before the treatment. I use a hanna checker and copper never rose above 2.0. some of them aren't round like ich either as some have a more oval or oblong shape.

its probably worth a FW dip to rule out flukes given the "oblong shape" observation.
I agree with this. I've seen fish have copper reactions but they're generally much more like "colorless" goose bumps. In essence, they aren't "white spots" but just slight bumps on the flesh of the fish and as they worsen they can look like ich or velvet without all the "whiteness". It's pretty uncommon, but it's possible.

i think I have the same on my blue tang currently in qt, 30 days of copper power at 2.0ppm, 1 round of prazipro and another round of API GC. But I still get these pimples that can only be seen on an angle like reflection to see the tiny bumps under skin. It is scratching. FW bath gives it a few days of relief without scratching but then it will come back. It was scratching throughout copper but no pimples, only see pimples after copper is gone. Will be following to see what this is.
