I really love the look of this fish. However I do not like the fact that it is very aggressive. I'm thinking of ways to curb this aggression as well as the size of it. My plans are to pair it with a black and white clown.

If I buy the black/white clown first then let it get a bit bigger, 2"+ range. Once the b&w is 2" plus, I'll purchase a very small maroon gold, 1" range. Should this plan work on making sure the black/white clown will be female? So if the black/white clown is female, the maroon gold should not grow to the 5-6" range and stay male??

Its quite possible. but never a guarantee. If it were me, I would get the largest black and white you can find. let it become established in your tank then get the smallest maroon you can find. IMO that is your best bet. I have successfuly paired a few clowns doing it this way. both females were large. I currently have a spawning pair of black and whites.

Im thinking in a short time frame what the Maroon will outgrow the B/W and kill it. Those things are very aggressive, and will get very large compared to the normal Occ Clown.
But, theres always that chance it works.

I figured the BW would turn female in hipes of the maroon would become male and stay small. Sounds like it wont work. Thanks!

Theres no telling which one will change, thats taking a chance.

You might be better off taking a chance. Every fish is different and I have a pair of GSM and they are calm and peaceful even with my reef chromis. Goodluck cause I have heard some horror stories, but every fish is different.

My male, smaller, is more aggressive than female. However the female is more disruptive. Fans substrate constantly and clouds tank water. Beautiful to look at and fun with its hosting... But be aware of downsides.
