Im a little troubled by this gold torch. For reasons you can probably imagine lol. This is my 3rd torch and the others have done great. So for this torch, Arguably the most expensive and beautiful coral in the tank, is pretty puzzling. Everything else in the tank looks good. U can easily see his skeleton, his tentacles (polyps? Lol) look flimsy and just looks blahh other than his color. Color looks pretty good. I just mounted him on that rock. Ive tried to place him diff places around the tank on the frag rack and this is where he looks the most “happy”. But not even really happy lol

Temp 78.7 apex
Salinity 1.025 not sure the brand but its electric read the same on the refractometer
Nitrates 5 red sea
Phosphates .01 Hanna ulr
Calcium 463 hanna
Alk 7.7 hanna
Mag 1440 red sea
Ph8.1 apex

Hes been in there for almost 2 weeks. And hasnt looked very good the whole time. But looks the “best” in this area. I dont see any brown jelly or pests on him and i dipped him in revive before putting him in my tank.

Hope Your Gold Torch does well. (Video doesn't work, so maybe post photo)

I know the feeling. I have various LPS that do well and whenever I added a Aussie Golden TOrch I prayed it would make it.

I lost 2, and almost lost a 3rd.

One thing I was told is Torches absolutely Hate to be Dipped in Revive, so be careful with that.
Since being told that, I only dip my LPS when needed in MelaFix, and that saved a couple.

When my 3rd Golden Torch wasn't doing well (Recently)......I thought I was going to lose another (and give up)
I took a guess that it was getting hit too hard with Flow.
I changed nothing, not even placment. I just move a powerhead so it got like almost no flow.

It totally recovered, and it doing really well for many weeks.

Aw man sorry ill try again with the video. Here are a couple pix over the past 2 weeks. Im prayin for it to make it like you were. Ill look into melafx. Is that a good Euphyllia medication when theyre not lookin too hot? My other torches did well with the revive i hope it wasnt that that did it. Where he sits right now there is pretty low flow. Sometimes i feel it maybe too low. But he looks a bit more pepy there than anywhere else. Thanks for the response hopefully it pulls through.
The last pic is the most recent where he sits now.

I see nothing wrong. Looks Great. NIce Fat tentacles. What's wrong???

Don't get Melafix and DONT dip it anymore in Revive.

(Revive is for killing Pests and nothing to bringing health to Corals, unless they have a pest problem)
(Melafix is similar but more gentle and for treating fish, etc).
But you don't need to dip your Torch, unless you see evidence of something like Jelly Disease.

If no issues, don't dip. It will hurt healthy Corals like LPS.

Most important thing to watch on LPS to know if they are generally ok (Healthy), is look underneath.
At the point the skelton base ends, and the Fleshy part starts.
Not at night but during lighting time.
It should have good flesh all around the stem. No receeding, or sharp skelton edges showing.
If that is fine, then just be patient and stop moving it around (unless you really think you need to).
Every time to move, adjust, your Torch will react with SHOCK and need time to adjust.

Ok no melafx lol. Ill leave him there since he seems happier. His skeleton is slightly visible through its movements. Ill leave him put and hope for the best. Thanks for the response

If a tiny bit of skelton shows up, it can re-grow and heal over. Not overnight, but slowly over time.
Just leave it, and watch for any worsening. Even then, there isn't much you can do, except Pray.
You want things nice and stable.

Flow is very important with torches. Too low and the tentacles fold over and die. Too much from just 1 direction and you get the same issues. You should be seeing a sway action back and forth if your flow is right.

Thanks @John3 for the response. I took a closer look with the lights off and took more pictures. It kind of looks like it is splitting. Would that justify its behavior if it is splittling?
