I have this gold torch about a week now. Its showing skeleton little by little since day 4. How can I save this torch please. Btw today I just took it out and dip it with Medicoral (Brightwell Aquatics) for 5 mins and nothing came out. My tank is nearly 2 yrs old. Here is my water parameters
alk 8.4
cal 450
mag 1350
ph 8.0
phosphate 0.06 ppm
nitrate 5 ppm

This is what it look like when the light is off

Give it time and it will recover. I bought an aussie gold that looked very similar and receeded into the skeletal structure. Its not happy with your placement most likely since parameters look fine.
What i did was place mine at the bottom of my tank, very low flow (placed behind a rock so no direct current) and shaded by a capping coral from above. It recovered in about 4 weeks.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from a tank with a higher level of nutrients and also alkalinity. It’s not that your parameters are bad but the move likely has the torch mad because of a big swing.

It seems more people are running their nutrients and all higher these days. I normally do a quick test on the water the coral comes in with to see what I’m dealing with. My Indo gold torch will start to recede if the alk drops below 10, but that’s because it’s used to being at 11-12.

Thank you, I will try

I have two Aussie Golds. One has about seven heads now, (bought it with 4) and the other just split into two heads. My first one was unhappy until I turned the flow way up so I learned my lesson with the second one and put it in higher flow from the start. I also have several other Torches including an Indo Gold, a Dragon Soul, a large Indo with green tentacles and blue tips a Hell Fire Torch and a few others and they all love high flow.

I read somewhere that some of these Torches come from extremely turbulent waters and like higher flow than other Euphyllia. In my experience this has been the case.

Do you feed it? I had a Hammer that was worse than that. It had Brown Jelly and was half gone and I dipped it in Revive and Iodine and then directly fed it every three days for a few weeks and it healed completely. I thought it was going to die, but it is doing great now. Not sure what else to recommend. Hope it makes it.

Just to give you an idea of what kind of flow I am talking about, here are some videos I did of my Torches in QT...

Hope that helps.
Thank you so much for your video. It’s help a lot with an idea. Do you have any idea what wrong with my torch? With my experience, when Euphyllia shows skeleton like this they are dying .

I use reef energy A and B everyday and spot feed with reef roids 2-3 times a week. Last night I dip it with medic coral. And tonight I just dip with iodine. Can u explain to me how exactly you do when u dip? I usually leave it about 5-10 mins. And I’m really sure it has no brown jelly. The body of itself so clean. Sorry for my English bro.

Btw. It’s about 40% gone now. Really don’t wanna lose it. I got this Aussie torch as a birthday gift, plus they’re expensive and hard to get lol.

I usually do 10 minutes with Coral RX initially before placing my coral in the tank and 10 - 15 minutes with Revive and or 10 - 15 minutes in Iodine if trying to heal a coral. I am not sure what's wrong with yours...is it possible that something is nipping at it? or maybe a pest? Do you dip before you put them in your tank?

Hopefully someone with more experience can help you out here. I hope it survives.

I would agree that something is probably eating it if it appears healthy but you are loosing tentacles bit by bit.

Mine was receeded when i first got it. I put it in high flow from the get go and it made it worse and a few tenticles let go. Try low flow low light at the bottom for about a week before you do anything else. Mine took a good 3-4 weeks before it started to cover the exposed skeleton with flesh. After that, i have it in higher flow, but still at the bottom of the tank but out in the open.
Both my aussie gold and indo love it.

Following along, recently got one as well that receded a bit once I introduced it to my tank. I also added a hammer at the exact same time and it has had full extension the entire time. I think they may just take some time to settle in...

FWIW, I was told they are collected in tide water river mouths in australia and like dirty tanks but mine rebounded with ultra low nutrients. Theyre elevated and in spec now and i havent noticed any difference to my torches.
I think lighting and flow are a more significant factor with this torch.

It shows 40% skeleton now. Still alive. I was trying to dip with iodine every other day, don’t know that will help or not.
