But this is what showed up

Chances it'll survive with this split? Any advice on helping it?

Wowza...that looks like a newly cut and it's a pretty bad cut. I hope it will healed up and thriving for you.

Yeah... Not happy! It's one thing to loose $$ on a coral, but hacking it and potentially causing it demise bothers me worse.

LFS 30 miles away. Bought it base on the pic they posted on FB. The employee I was talking to had to drive by my house on his way home. Met him on his way. I usually don't buy coral this way. Won't do it again either.

It continued to get worse over the weekend. I decided to try a patch job with reef putty.

After...

Personally I'd take it back and tell them to refund your money. If they argue about it, I'd stomp that right into their carpet. What a hack job. $30/head isn't a bad price.. if it don't say WYSIWYG then you should pretty much continue looking. More often than not, you'll be disappointed with what shows up.

I've had mine for 8 months, I keep it at medium light and medium flow. After trying 3 times.. Good luck with yours!!

That looks as though it was done by a fragger who needs more practice. They should not have sold it until they knew it was able to heal from that cut.

It looks like it was done where two heads were not quite separated. Many stores would have left it has a two instead of making a risky cut.

After talking with the LFS and sending daily progression pics, they've agreed to replace it. Basically store credit. I'm very picky though and really only had that particular species in mind. It may be a week or two before they get another one in. I've left the skeleton in the tank for now.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. Just sorry to see it die.

That "cut" was a snap, and a horrible one at that. I hope the new one is much better, but they should invest in a saw. Even with store credit, I'd be tempted to load up on fish food and look elsewhere, that's ridiculous.

I've contacted the guy by phone twice since my last post. Still hasn't gotten another one in has been the story. I will be going there next weekend to resolve it one way or another.
