I was at Aquashella Chicago and picked up a gold torch from some guys that I know very well and am good friends with. When I first got the torch it was gold like it was supposed to be. It was closed when I put it in my tank but when it opened up it was a dark green! Could someone help me figure out what happened and now I can get back the gold color.

When I brought home my Gold Torch it kind of did the same thing except it was more blueish. There was a very thin gold stripe running down each tentacle which eventually spread back around the entire tentacle from the thin lines. Do you see thin gold stripes?

I have the same purple tip indo gold torch, it turns green with gold streaks when it is new but over time it will turn more gold. However, if it is still green, it is under poor lighting spectrum and/or high nutrients.

no I don't see any gold :(

Only possibilities I can think of is your tank lighting caused a color shift which happens all the time when you change corals from tank to tank or (dont kill the messenger) you bought what you thought was a gold torch maybe under those straight actinic lights they have at frag swaps but it really was green.

Ask the vendor for a colony picture

Take a picture for us? I've seen these types of torches around.. Will look golden, but will have turquoise/greenish tips. I'm sorry to say these aren't true Australian gold torches

I know the vendor and have seen his facility. The head that I bought came from a colony of 15 heads that i've seen in person. If a color shift did happen will it return to its golden state?

I just bought my first gold torch from VividAquariums. It's a "Vivid's Ultra Gold Torch", but right now it's straight up green lol.

Did yours ever turn to gold? Assuming you're still in the hobby :)

Call them, talk to someone in charge. Hopefully they will make it right. Or contact them here on the forum. Don't bother with their customer service people, go right to the source.
