Golden angle not eating

I have kept a number of golden angels and they can be finicky but you'd need to consider what they have evolved to do. They are substrate feeders so chucking loads of food into the water column just isn't natural to them. It is far better to present the food in a way they are accustomed to, so I stick foods that you can paste onto a rock. Masstick, squashed pellets or even pushing mysis into the rock can get them feeding initially but my first step was always to put them in a live rock based observation qt to begin with. The reason for this is they do far better when in such a tank before you do any medication, which can be done when it's settled and feeding strongly. This method has worked with the other shy feeding angels as well and I personally believe they need this observation qt in a more natural tank in order to acclimate.
I wouldn't add any dither fish, they will only out compete them and given enough cover the angel should be settled enough. These aren't a fish that will be out, in your face, the whole time. You are more likely to get a fleeting glimpse from time to time and if you have a large tank with lots of rockwork, you may see it even less. To me it makes them appealing as you have to look for it and it makes your tank more interesting.
