I have an indo golden torch here.
it now seems that he gets shorter tentacles than when he arrived in the first day. is there an explanation for this? he also collapses every day at 4 o'clock and he stays small for the rest of the day.
anyone have an idea ?

i have one. it seems to be a bit more finicky than the other torches I have. for this one, I have gone from one head to about four.... where the other green one i got at the same time and from the same place has gone from one head to ten.... they are in the same area, same tank, same food source, same light....etc. I did move them to where they are now a few months ago...they are both doing even better... a lot of extension... a fair amount of flow and a bit of shading under some SPS... they like it... I also have a couple of clowns that host in them....which again they seem to like.

what is the best current for a torch? that he goes up and down or blows 1 direction? I have my torches on top of the reef. I have a lps aquarium with adapted light.

Higher flow will make them not extend as much.

My 2 head torch likes to get blown around with random flow bounced off the glass in its corner. It on the side of a rock, on a ledge 3 inches off the tank bottom. The sea swirl blows it against a rock when the water hits the corner. A little more than the video below. At first I thought it might be too much. After 2 weeks it extended a few inches and is big enough for my female clown to hide in it and not be seen

I run quite a bit of flow in my tank.... as I have a lot of SPS... The direction and strength are managed via programs that run differently all day... flow is provided by MP40s and a reef link and a large return pump with flow across the tank via 8 lockline outlets across the back of the tank.

As I said... I run programs all day that vary early morning and late night I run full blast... nutrient export.. mid-day a more pulsating flow....... and then at night I turn the MPs way down....

Here is a short vid of the flow my torches get...this is mid-day so the flow is a bit reduced...

+1
Just like mine

I’m a firm believer torches LOVE heavy flow, not necessarily direct flow blasting the head but nice alternating current. I also find with my tank my torches extend 8+ inches long in higher flow areas. I have about 35 torch’s currently. Got them all along the top of my tank with heavy flow.
