Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I added a Gold Head Goby to my aquarium. After acclimating him, he went down to one of the caves and I haven't seen him since. My Royal Gramma chased him out of its territory and into the cave. Should I be worried about him? Do I just need to wait for him to come out? He was very active at my LFS which is why I'm worried.

He will be fine. Give him time to get used to his new home. It may take a few days.

These guys naturally hide when settling in. It’s rare you’ll ever have a hint that’s out and about from day one.

Day 2. Still no sign of him.
I’d only worry when it gets to maybe 2 weeks but even then there’s some that do hide for long periods of time over two weeks.

Found him dead today. He is in a hard to reach area though. Would it be better to move around rocks so I can get to him or just let him decompose?

I would not let it decompose if at all possible. Ideally, you should have a clean up that will eat it before it decomposes

If you have CUC, let them eat him but if you don’t, use a baster to get him out.
