Goni growth?

Is my goni growing or is this tissue/polyp receding? Picture taken at night hence the rest of the coral being closed up. The highlighted portion of the coral's polyps are a very weak green unlike all the other polyps when extended.

You have large portions of skeleton exposed on the left and right. If those areas are getting bigger, it's dying.

Neither. Just something they do periodically. You’ve got lots of exposed skeleton which is obviously areas that have died off. If it was growing you would see it repopulating the skeleton with tissue.

When I first purchased the coral it had much receding tissue as is no surprise with gonis.

Gonis need lots and lots of iron, possibly manganese. I haven't seen much difference with mine for manganese, but the iron is very obvious.

I dose manganese and live phyto and mine are doing well. Always open and fluffy. Haven’t tried iron yet. I know 2 Little Fishies sells an iron/manganese supplement. How much iron do you dose and what do you see as a result?

You will laugh at my supplement but it works for me. I use pure iron shavings. I dose a pinch. I use one of the red Salifert test spoons and let just a pinch fall in. Maybe 1/10 of the spoon amount. I do this every day. When I miss a day the goni will pull in.

It is a 20 breeder, with a 45 gallon bin type sump. I moved so it is a hodge podge so that I could have something.
