I am using sulfur, I know that sucks up alk. But I am not sure if this is related to the clam or goni that is adding contribution.

The clam is only 2-3", but the pink goni I got is the size of a human heart....not that booger size piece they sell at the other LFS.
The thickness of the goni is over 2 inches thick.

I really don't want to dose if I have to. That defeats the purpose of my cal reactor.

I cannot get it pass 7. Should I just crank up the bubble count and leave the *** at 1 drop per sec? can having too much sulphur be a problem? I got 12 pounds of sulfur in a geo reactor 612.

This is old equipment left over in case you are wondering. Total tank volume is 40 gallons, I have to feed heavy and maybe add a few more fish.

What salt mix are you using, and how often are you doing water changes if any. I would say that both the clam, and goni are sucking up alk, but I am surprised that you Cal is at 500 with a alk of 7.
