My first mistake was buying this $60 goniepora when I saw it, it was huge with massive extensions so I had to have it

Over the next couple of months it just kept going downhill and getting worst. It seems to have stopped dying off but it certainly isn’t thriving or growing.

tank is 20 gallons
Salinity 35ppt
Nitrates 0
Phosphates 0.05
Alk 8 dkh
Calcium 440

this tank has been quite neglected so it absolutely hasn’t been stable but I’m just lately getting on top of it so I’d say this is to blame.

what is my best action to get it thriving again?

Following im in the same boat. Only got better when i put it in higher light/flow.

Should look like a waving wheat field in the wind, as another reefer put it.
More flow and moderate light (150 par)

Give it moderate flow and light and it will come back.

I bought one as a frag and many times thought it was a "goner" but with low to medium flow & light & stability it has come back bigger & better. IME they tend to like medium to low flow to expand.
