They are hardy. They like some nutrient in the water and they appreciate feeding.

Honestly, good flow, Alk 8-9, Ca 400-450, PO4 1 to 1.2, NO3 20-30. I periodically add manganese, iron and phyto can’t say for sure that helps or not. Beyond that, nothing special. I’ve always found gonis pretty easy actually.

Wow p04 that high?! Mine is around .08-.25. N03 9-15. My alk is around 9.2 all the time. I also dose iron/manganese twice a week. Only about 5ml a week. I use cve+, along with reef roids, and coral curry.Send me $1000 and I’ll tell you.

So how long have they been aquacultured??
Some tanks support gonis no problem, others can’t keep them.
I think with Gonis it’s really about consistency in numbers.
Some of us dose manganese…..i do…but I think part of my ability to keep them is consistent numbers with my Alk.
Almost all of my Gonis have opened same day as I stuck them in. The one that didn’t never opened

I also dose phyto.
I feed gonis every other week or so with gonipower.
Consistency is key.
My alk is 9.5
Magnesium is 1500+ (last icp put it over 1650)
Calcium is around 450
I actually dose enough manganese that my last ICP showed .7 ug/L

I’m gonna steal your tank.They are able to acclimate to a wide range of par. P04 and NO3 is more important for them to thrive. Needs to be available. See pic below. Left side of tank. Some at bottom, middle and at top. All fluffy and growing onto rocks.
Gonis are my love language.
I may have just bought 2 more plus the one I won….so 33 gonis and counting

Mine are doing quite well at about 250 under MH/T5 combo lighting. I am also running above average nutrients at 1.0 ppm PO4 and 10 ppm NO3. Had the goni for about 6 weeks and it seems happy. Tank is quite old (9 years) despite the young corals (had to restart after a major crash).

Lol, thanks. Think I have around 40. Lost count. Also have some Alves in the mix as well. IMO, they are the perfect coral. Movement, color and fairly easy to take care of. Only issue I’m running into is they have grown and spread onto the rocks so I need to frag but have no way of doing so. So running into coral warfare.

I can’t that’s the problem. You really need to frag them by removing and using a band saw. Since they grown onto the rock, I can’t do that. So it’s survival of the fittest.
