Picked up a Aquaculuted Goni frag today. First two hours it stayed closed, now the past hour they started opening more and extending. I’ve heard they’re incredibly hard to keep and people have them die early or sometimes they don’t open at all.
Half polyps are extended other half are showing but staying put. Wondering if I should move them or let it do it’s thing? Anyone have any advice or similar experience?

I've had incredible success with Gonis. My suggestion is to mount them to a piece of rock rubble, just to keep them off the sand. Mine like good flow and medium lighting.

They will pout for a while when new. It’s trying to come out so I am sure you will be fine. Todays Goni’s are super hardy. I had one die down to 1 polyp and the SOB came back! I got 7 currently and they seem to enjoy mid-mid low lighting and a nice alternating stronger to very low flow. Less flow more extension. They come from very silty fast moving water so they really don’t need much light. They can however handle high light with time. Mine seem to enjoy some reef roids once a week

Appreciate the response makes me feel a lot better, and thank you for the advice/tips.

My Goni’s like low light , gentle flow, bi weekly feeding ,and steady parameters . New acquisitions are hit or miss as most open immediately but a few stay closed for a couple of days . As long as your parameters are good you’ll do fine . I would also suggest when acclimating take care to do it over at least 1-11/2 hrs . Inspect and dip keeping temperature in mind while acclimating as well . Good luck hope this helps !!!
