So I have been running 210 gallon with 40 gallon sump now for almost about one year. I've been having issues with my one of gonipora corals that I have just purchased looking for some advice. I dont know if he was bread or wild caught. I have added my icp tests in photos. I had removed him for a iodine dip the other day but he is still receding. He is low light without getting the par and lower end of flow right.any gonipora keepers please help me out.

I had a green Goni that was fine in 60-80 par but the pink one right next to it would stay completed closed. I thought it maybe was getting too much light so I moved it to some shade and it stayed closed. Grabbed my par meter and I put it in a spot that was about 85-115 and it took like 2 days for it to be completed extended. Maybe needs some more light.

I’ve had positive results feeding some reef roids or benepets to an upset goni. It’ll help them bounce back a bit.

You did dip the Goni recently, which really ticks them off. Just low flow and low light and target feed some consumable food and hopefully it’ll perk up soon. It can take a while, gonis are fickle beasts.

I dip him Sunday night cz he kept receding and been feeding both of those foods mentioned. I had him like 1/4 up at first so I lowered him cz he was looking worse.

They need to be fed. Not necessarily coral foods like reef roids but things like PO4, NO3 and I also add Manganese and Iron. Fine with low light and they like moderate to high flow.

What do you keep ur levels at with everything

PO4 around .05, NO3 around10-15. Mn and Fe I don't test for. Just add 7ml and 3 capfuls weekly into 250 gals. Have around 35 gonis. Had them for a couple of years and growing well.

I have three gonis and one alve, they do fine in around 140 par, I have nitrate about 20ppm and phos at .1 The dont like blasting light thats for sure, but they enjoy medium flow and they go absolutely nuts for Quantum Coral Cane.

I have been away from the hobby since my 6YO was born but I remember when barely anyone could keep a Goni alive. Are they captive bred? When did it get easier to keep them alive?
