Picked up a strawberry Goniopora yesterday, figuring that since my torches/hammers have been flourishing I could try a goni. It’s slowly started to open, much slower than every other LPS I’ve put in the tank.

In your experience, how long has your Goni taken to open fully? What are you dosing to make them flourish?

Water parameters:
Salinity:1.025
Nitrates:5
Phosphates: .06
Calcium: 435
Mag: 1620
Alk: 9.3
pH: 8.3
Temp: 77.6-78.5

I have a smaller frag with about the same parameters and it opened the next day. Tank is 6 months old

Goniopora seem to be happiest with strong lighting and flow. That’s where I have the best luck with them.
Do you think the return pump hitting the glass and then hitting the Goni directly would be an issue? The torches enjoy it but I wasn’t sure about the Goni

Give it some time to acclimate as it does take a little time. Mine did. Dose need quit a bit of flow and medium light
I’m just gonna let it go. I’m being OCD about the Goni because I’ve been super lucky that all of my LPS have opened within a day and this Goni is testing me. Gonna keep it on the sand under moderate lighting, moderately high flow

Got my first goni frag a few weeks ago and it is getting pounded with flow and it also seems to love it.

Nice, this is the polyp extension I’m looking for. Picked it up at Austin Aqua Farms but the guy had just moved it before I got there so there was next to zero polyp extension.

This is how much I ve achieved after babying it for 10 days. Seems to prefer lower light intensity and moderate flow.

I have a Rose Petal Goni that has been in my tank since January. She went into hiding around March and only recently came back in July where she is willing to let her petals out. The change that made the difference was increasing my Alk I was usually in th 8 range but I try to keep it around 11 DkH now.

Mine get blasted as I’m more towards sps

So I was hoping for a longer polyp Goni but apparently this is all I’m going to get from it. It’s a gorgeous color but I wanted longer polyps

Mate that's gorgeous... Do we have the same variant? Mine glows orange with orange filters.

I have a bunch of goni, some very small polys and some like the one I posted. I love them for bottom cover and the clowns really enjoy so it seems
